Flying

Over the years I have been lucky enough to have numerous chances to go flying. Not just in commercial jets but in light aircraft that I was allowed to control. It started when I was 14 and at college, as an after class activity the school ran a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) of which I was a member and Sergeant of the RAF section. As part of this I was able to go Air Experience Flying at both RAF Wyton and RAF Cambridge. Over 5 years in the section I was able to build up 35 hours flying in a Bulldog trainer and 45 in a Grob Tutor.

I was also lucky enough to get a chance to fly in a couple of different types of gliders, including flying solo in a motorised Vigilant glider as part of a gliding scholarship.

The feeling of being in a glider is second to none, from the 0-60 in 4 seconds during a winch launch to the total silence of being in the air soaring around on a bunch of thermals, I really have never found a better experience. I urge anyone with an interest to try this, only having a brief look at Google I found this link https://bit.ly/35257rW which would be an awesome place to start. I am sure it might not be for everyone but I know a lot of people who tried it and have fallen in love with it.

I sadly don’t have the time or funds now to do IRL flying anymore, however, I did and still do a lot of flight simulation. Since Microsoft released Flight Simulator 2020 I have been seriously getting back into that. More can be found out about me and fight simulation here
